Angel, a hedgehog surrendered to the CHS by her previous ownerThe Carolina Hedgehog Society assists in finding new homes for needy hedgehogs from time to time. Due to the unpredictable nature of rescue, these hedgehogs come up for adoption at irregular intervals.

We are a proud rescue affiliate of the Hedgehog Welfare Society.. If you are outside our geographic region, check to see if there is a rescuer near you by viewing the HWS's rescue list.

If you would like be considered for the adoption of a rescue hedgehog at a future time, please complete the following pre-adoption questionnaire. Preference is given to those with previous experience with hedgehogs, as rescue hedgehogs frequently have not been properly socialized and may be difficult for the first-time owner. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to adopt a hedgehog as many considerations come into play with any rescue situation.

Please note: this rescue application is meant primarily for potential rescuers who are either located in or near the Carolinas. However, if you are located elsewhere, feel free to complete the form. We will forward your information to a hedgehog rescue contact in your geographic area.

Additionally, if you are in the Carolinas, read more about rescue and apply to adopt a hedgehog from A Spiny Place Hedgehog Rescue, located in Boone, NC.

If you're still interested, know that your willingness to help a hedgehog in need is greatly appreciated. Please make sure that you have read the Learn about your hedgehog section and understand the basic requirements of caring for one of these special pets.
